Automated Targeting allows Reddit to expand targeting beyond the audience selections you configure. This helps Reddit reach additional relevant users and improve ad delivery.

The feature aligns with Reddit native Ads Manager behaviour to provide a consistent targeting experience across Reddit advertising workflows. When you use a Reddit lookalike audience, Reddit automatically enables Automated Targeting and makes it mandatory.

How Automated Targeting Works

When you enable Automated Targeting, Reddit expands targeting beyond the audience selections you configure to help improve campaign performance.

You can enable Automated Targeting without meeting minimum audience-targeting criteria. You do not need to select Interest Groups or Community Audiences to use the feature.

How to Access Automated Targeting in Ads Composer

1. Click Ads Composer under Ads Compositions. The Create new Paid Initiative page is displayed.

2. Select the required Reddit Ad Account. The account is applied to the paid initiative.

3. Enter the campaign details in the Paid Initiative Details tab. The campaign configuration is updated.

4. Click the Target Audience tab. The Target Audience page is displayed.

5. Click Add Target Audience. The audience configuration workflow is displayed.

6. Click Add New Audience. The Add New Audience page is displayed.

7. Enter a value in Targeting Name. The audience is available for configuration.

8. Review the Automated Targeting checkbox. The setting is enabled by default.

How to Access Automated Targeting in Ads Manager

1. Navigate to Advertising > Ads Manager. The Ads Manager page is displayed.

2. Click the Ad Sets tab. The list of ad sets is displayed.

3. Click View & Edit for the ad set that you want to update. The ad set details page is displayed.

4. In the Audience section, review the Automated Targeting setting.

5. Enable or disable Automated Targeting as required. If the audience contains a lookalike audience, the setting remains enabled and unavailable for editing.

How to Access Automated Targeting in Audience Manager

1. Navigate to Advertising > Audience Manager. The Audience Manager page is displayed.

2. Select the required Reddit saved audience. The audience is highlighted.

3. Click the More Actions menu. The actions menu is displayed.

4. Click Edit. The Edit Saved Audience page is displayed.

5. Expand Targeting Details. The targeting configuration is displayed.

6. Locate the Automated Targeting checkbox. You can enable or disable the setting unless the audience contains a lookalike audience.

7. Click Save. The audience configuration is updated.
