Capturing Net-Internals Network Logs in Chrome or Edge

Updated

Overview

Net‑Internals is a built‑in diagnostic tool available in Chromium‑based browsers, including Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Sprinklr Support may request these logs when troubleshooting issues that cannot be reproduced or when additional network‑level details are required.

Net‑Internals captures detailed browser network activity, including SSL certificate validation, DNS lookups, proxy usage, and WebSocket events. This information helps identify whether a network, browser, or system setting is contributing to issues within Sprinklr.

This article outlines steps on capturing Net‑Internals logs in Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge so that Sprinklr Support can troubleshoot network‑related issues such as SSL errors and WebSocket problems.

Intended audience for this article include Administrators, IT teams, and users who are troubleshooting connectivity issues in Sprinklr.

What Net‑Internals Can Help Diagnose

Net‑Internals logs are useful for investigating:

  • SSL or TLS certificate validation failures

  • Connection errors (refused, timed out, or reset)

  • WebSocket or MQTT connection issues

  • DNS resolution failures

  • Proxy or firewall‑related connectivity problems

Before You Begin

  • Close all Sprinklr browser tabs to ensure a clean log capture.

  • Ensure you select Strip private information to remove user‑specific data before generating logs.

Steps to Capture the Logs

Perform the following steps to capture the Net-Internals log.

Step 1: Open Net‑Internals

Open the appropriate URL for your browser:

  • Google Chrome: chrome://net-export/

  • Microsoft Edge: edge://net-export/

This will open the Net Export tool used to generate network logs.

Step 2: Start Logging

  1. In the Net Export page, check Strip private information. This removes sensitive details while preserving technical information needed for troubleshooting.

  2. Select Start Logging to Disk.

  3. When prompted, choose a location on your device to save the file.

  4. Click Save. The browser starts recording all network activity.

Step 3: Reproduce the Issue in Sprinklr

  1. Open a new browser tab.

  2. Log in to Sprinklr.

  3. Navigate to the part of the platform where the issue occurs.

  4. Reproduce the issue exactly as you experienced it.

The log file will capture all relevant network events during this time.

Step 4: Stop Logging

  1. Return to the Net Export tab.

  2. Click Stop Logging.

  3. Confirm that a JSON file is saved in the location you selected earlier.

This JSON file contains the network log that Sprinklr Support will analyze.
