Create and Manage Content Variants

Updated

Content Variants helps you adapt images for different languages and publishing channels without leaving Sprinklr. You can create image variants directly from Digital Asset Management (DAM), localise embedded image text, resize images for channel-specific formats, and replace image backgrounds. You can also localise post copy and associated images in the same Publisher workflow.

Content Variants also supports adaptive image resizing in Publisher. When an image does not meet a channel's aspect ratio requirements, Sprinklr can resize the image to fit the required format while preserving its content. This helps you prepare images for publishing without manually cropping the image. If needed, you can still crop the image manually by using the image editor.

With Content Variants, you can:

  • Resize images for one or more channel-specific aspect ratios.

  • localise embedded image text into multiple languages.

  • Replace an image background.

  • localise post content and associated images in the same workflow.

  • Create image variants without overwriting the source asset.

  • Create custom image variants by using natural-language prompts.

Before you begin

  • Ensure that the CONTENT_VARIANT_ENABLED Dynamic Property (DP) is enabled. Content Variants features are unavailable when the DP is disabled.

  • To localise post copy and images together, ensure that Localisation is also enabled for your environment.

Note: To enable the CONTENT_VARIANT_ENABLED Dynamic Property, contact your Success Manager or Sprinklr Admin. Alternatively, submit a request to tickets@sprinklr.com.

You can create image variants by using the Create Variants option available on image assets in DAM.

  1. Navigate to DAM.

  2. Locate the image asset that you want to modify.

  3. Click the asset menu on the asset card.

  4. Sprinklr displays the asset action menu.

  5. Click Create Variants.

  6. Sprinklr displays the available variant options:

    • Localise

    • Resize

    • Remove background

    • Replace background

    • Custom edit

Localise Images

Use Localise to create language-specific versions of an image. Sprinklr detects translatable text in the image and generates a localised image for each selected language.

  1. Navigate to DAM and open the Create Variants menu for an image asset.

  2. Select Localise. Sprinklr opens the Localise dialog and displays the available languages.

  3. Search for and select the required languages. Sprinklr adds the selected languages to the localization request.

  4. Select the target languages. Sprinklr allows you to select a maximum of five languages in a single localization request. The selection counter displays the number of selected languages.

Note: If you need localised images in more than five languages, create additional localization requests.

  5. Select the required output quality. You can generate variants in 720p (default), 1080p, 2K, or 4K resolution.

  6. Click Generate. Sprinklr generates a localised image for each selected language.

Note: During localization, Sprinklr preserves protected elements such as logos, brand marks, URLs, email addresses, social handles, and product codes. If Sprinklr does not detect translatable text in an image, it skips localization for that image and notifies you.

  7. Review the generated variants. Sprinklr displays a localised image for each selected language.

  8. Select the generated variant and choose the next action.

    • Click Save in DAM to save the selected variant to DAM.

    • Click regenerate to generate a new version of the selected variant. Sprinklr regenerates only the selected variant and leaves the remaining variants unchanged.

Note: When you create an image variant, Sprinklr links the generated variant to the parent image. You can access all generated variants from the Associated Assets tab of the parent image.

  9. Verify that a localised image exists for each selected language.

Use Localise to:

  • Create assets for regional campaigns.

  • Support multilingual content strategies.

  • Repurpose a creative for global audiences.

Resize images

Use Resize to create variants optimized for different channel and placement requirements. The resize workflow groups aspect ratios by channel and placement type, helping you generate channel-ready assets from a single image.

When an image does not meet a channel's aspect ratio requirements, you can use generative AI to resize it directly in Publisher. Sprinklr adapts the image to the required aspect ratio while preserving its content, reducing the need for manual cropping or replacement. This helps you make images channel-ready during publishing without switching workflows or recreating the asset.

  1. Navigate to DAM and open the Create Variants menu for an image asset.

  2. Select Resize. Sprinklr opens the Resize dialog and displays the available aspect ratios.

  3. Select one or more aspect ratios. Available options may be grouped by channel and placement. For example, 1:1 (Feeds) and 9:16 (Stories & Reels) for Meta, 16:9 (Main Video) for YouTube, and so on.

  4. Select the required output quality. You can generate variants in 720p (default), 1080p, 2K, or 4K resolution.

  5. Click Generate. Sprinklr generates one image variant for each selected aspect ratio.

  6. Review the generated variants and select the variant that you want to keep. Click Save in DAM to save the selected variant, or click regenerate to generate a new version of it. Sprinklr regenerates only the selected variant and leaves the remaining variants unchanged.

  7. Verify that the resized variants appear in DAM.

Use Resize to:

  • Create channel-ready assets for Meta feeds, Stories, Reels, and other placements.

  • Generate assets for multiple publishing channels from a single source image.

  • Adapt existing creatives to platform-specific requirements.

Remove Background

Use Remove background to remove the background from an image and create a new image asset that you can reuse across campaigns, channels, and creative workflows.

  1. Navigate to DAM and open the Create Variants menu for an image asset.

  2. Click Remove background. Sprinklr removes the image background and generates a new image variant.

  3. Review the generated variant.

  4. Select the variant that you want to keep. Click Save in DAM to save the selected variant, or click regenerate to generate a new version of it. Sprinklr regenerates only the selected variant and leaves the remaining variants unchanged.

  5. Verify that the background-removed variant is available in DAM.

Replace Image Backgrounds

Use Replace background to replace the background of an image while preserving the primary subject.

  1. Navigate to DAM and open the Create Variants menu for an image asset.

  2. Select Replace background. Sprinklr opens the editing experience with the image preloaded and the background replacement action selected.

  3. Enter instructions for the replacement background.

  4. Generate the updated image.

  5. Review the generated variant and select the variant that you want to keep. Click Save in DAM to save the selected variant, or click regenerate to generate a new version of it.

  6. Verify that the updated image appears in DAM.

Use Replace background to:

  • Create seasonal campaign variations.

  • Adapt creatives for regional audiences.

  • Experiment with alternative background styles.

View Generated Variants

Whenever you save an image variant, Sprinklr adds it to the Associated Assets tab of the parent image.

The Associated Assets tab helps you view and manage all variants created from the original image, including:

  • Resized variants

  • localised variants

  • Background-modified variants

  1. Open the parent image in DAM.

  2. Click the Associated Assets tab. Sprinklr displays all variants associated with the selected image.

  3. Select an associated asset to preview or manage it.

Localise Post Content and Images Together

Content Variants extends the existing localization workflow by allowing you to localise image content along with post content.

You can start the localization workflow from either of the following locations:

  • From the Editorial Calendar, hover over a post and click Create localised copies.

  • From the Post details pane, click Create localised copies.

  1. Click Create localised copies from Advanced Publisher, the post card, or the Post details pane. Sprinklr displays the language selection dialog, where you can select languages and configure localization settings.

  2. Select the target languages.

  3. Enable Localise Images. Sprinklr includes the associated image assets in the localization request.

  4. Click Submit. Sprinklr initiates localization for the selected languages and generates localised versions of the post content and corresponding image variants.

  5. Review the generated localised copies. Each localised copy contains translated post content and the corresponding localised image.

  6. Verify that the localised copies are available for each selected language.
