Creating and Configuring a Third Pane Layout

This article outlines a step-by-step walkthrough on how to create and configure a Third Pane Layout.
Create a Third Pane Layout
Step 1: Navigate to Entity Studio
Go to Entity Studio from the Sprinklr platform.
Open Entity Manager.
Select the entity for which you want to create a Third Pane Layout.
Click View to open the entity configuration.

Step 2: Open Third Pane Layout
Inside the entity configuration, locate Third Pane Layout.
Click Create Third Pane Layout.

Step 3: Enter Basic Details
On the creation screen, provide the following details:
Third Pane Layout Name - Enter a meaningful name for the layout.
API Reference ID - Auto-generated and non-editable.

Note: The API Reference ID is created automatically when the layout is saved.
Step 4: Create the Layout
Click Next.
You are automatically redirected to the Third Pane Layout Builder for configuration.
Configure a Third Pane Layout
Once the Third Pane Layout is created, you can define what users see when the pane opens.
Third Pane Layout Builder Overview
The builder consists of:
Overview Tab
The Overview tab is the default landing tab when a record is opened. It provides a quick snapshot of the record for fast reference. It displays:
The Record Card widget
Shows essential details such as:
Record name
Record owner
Last modified date
Other high-level information

Properties Tab
The Properties tab displays all fields defined for the entity.
Lists every field available for the record’s entity (e.g., Lead, Prospect, etc.)
Allows you to hide fields and make fields read only.
Supports multiple field types, including:
Text
Currency
Date
Date & Time
Name fields

Allows users to make all fields read-only and hide fields. Click on the Edit icon to hide fields or make all fields read-only as shown in the following image.

Allows users to mark fields as Favourite using the icon as shown in the following image.
On the Consumption side, when any field is marked as Favourite, it will automatically appear in the Overview tab as shown in the following image.

Collaboration Tab
The Collaboration tab enables internal users to collaborate on a specific record. It enables:
Multiple teams (e.g., Sales, Finance) collaborate on the same record
Maintain contextual discussions tied directly to a record
Personal note-taking for a record
Enable voting
Using the Collaboration tab, you can
Tag internal users
Add comments or notes related to the record
Upload and download files
Reply to conversations
Search within messages

Tasks Tab
The Task tab allows users to create and manage tasks associated with a specific record. It allows you to:
Create tasks linked to the record
Assign tasks to:
Yourself
Other users
Track follow-ups and action items

Activity Tab
The Activity tab provides a complete audit trail of everything that has happened on the record. It logs:
Record creation
Field value updates
Rule-based changes
Guided workflow actions
Manual user edits
Toggle On or Off the following actions
Refresh
Sort
Export
Shows who made changes and when
Custom Tab
The Custom tab allows users to embed supported widgets within a tab in the Third Pane.
Supported Widgets
The following widgets are supported:
Record Card List Widget
Entity Record Manager Widget
Record Card List Widget
Displays a list of records from a selected entity
Configurable directly within the tab
Uses the same configuration options as Record Page widgets
Entity Record Manager Widget
Displays a record manager view for a selected entity
Allows users to view and manage related records within the Third Pane

Step 5. JSON Tab
For advanced users, all settings can be customized using the JSON editor.
Step 6. Save and Activate the Layout
Once the layout is configured:
Click Save after configuration
Click Activate to make the Third Pane Layout available to users. The layout will not be visible to end users unless it is activated.
User Experience
Once activated:
The Third Pane Layout opens on the *right side* when triggered
Users can:
View record overview
Navigate between tabs
Close the pane without leaving the page
This enables quick, contextual insights without interrupting workflows.
