Bulk Upload Decision Tables
Updated
When a Decision Table contains a large number of decision rows, adding or updating entries manually can be time‑consuming. Bulk Upload allows you to create or update decision rows using an Excel file, making it easier to manage large datasets efficiently.
This article explains how to export a Decision Table template, update decision rows in Excel, and import the file back into Sprinklr.
Who Should Use This Feature
This feature is intended for:
Administrators
Logic designers
Business analysts managing large rule sets
Before You Begin
Before using bulk upload, ensure that:
The Decision Table is already created
All condition columns and at least one result column are defined in the UI
Note: Condition and result columns must be created in the UI. Columns cannot be added, removed, or modified using Excel.
Step 1: Export the Decision Table Template
Open the Decision Table.
In the Decisions step, click the Export (download) icon.

In the Export Decisions dialog, select Export to Excel and then click Export.

The exported Excel file includes:
All configured condition columns
All configured result columns
Existing decision rows (if any)

Step 2: Understand the Excel Template
The Excel file contains a structured format with clearly separated sections:
Condition Columns
Each condition includes:
Operator (for example, Equals)
Value
Result Columns
Each result column includes the output value to be returned when conditions match.
Restrictions in Excel
You can edit only operator and value fields
You cannot:
Add new columns
Delete columns
Rename columns
Change data types
If you need to change columns, update them in the Decision Table UI and re‑export the template.
Step 3: Add or Update Decision Rows in Excel
Add new rows to define additional decisions.
Update existing rows to modify logic.
Ensure that:
Operators are valid for the field type
Values match the expected data type
Each row in Excel represents one decision rule.
Step 4: Import the Excel File
Return to the Decision Table.
Click the Import icon.

Drag and drop the Excel file or click Browse to upload it.
Click Next.

Step 5: Review the Upload Summary
Before completing the import, Sprinklr displays an Upload Summary, showing:
New decisions to be created
Existing decisions to be updated
Review this summary carefully to confirm the changes.
Click Import to proceed.
Once complete, the decision rows are added or updated in the Decision Table screen.

Error Handling During Import
If errors are detected during upload:
An error message appears
You can download an error log file to review the issues
Fix the errors in Excel and re‑upload the file

Common errors include:
Invalid values for field type
Unsupported operators
Missing required values
Key Notes and Limitations
Bulk upload affects rows only, not columns
Column structure is always controlled in the UI
Excel supports both XLSX and XLS formats
Imported decisions appear immediately in the Decision Table
Best Practices
Define and finalize columns before exporting the template
Use bulk upload for large datasets (100+ decision rows)
Review the upload summary before importing
Validate the Decision Table using Test after import
Keep a backup of the Excel file for reference
Next Steps
After importing decision rows:
Test the Decision Table to validate results
Publish the Decision Table if it is ready for use
Use it in supported workflows such as Guided Workflows, IVRs, or ACW
