Update Existing Style Kits

Updated

Overview

This article outlines an enhancement in the Display module that enables users to edit and update existing style kits. Previously, style kits were reusable but not editable, requiring users to recreate them from scratch whenever layout, branding, or presentation requirements changed, resulting in unnecessary duplication and higher maintenance effort.

With this enhancement, users can now edit a parent style kit, save changes directly to it, and seamlessly reuse the updated style kit across multiple displays. All updates persist automatically and are reflected wherever the style kit is applied.

Navigate to the Display Module

Access

Users must have Display permissions enabled to access the Display landing page and manage style kits.

Navigation

  • Go to Social tab on the Sprinklr Platform > Analyze > Display to land on this screen:

  • Once you are logged into the platform with the required permissions (create, modify, display, or storyboard), click Create to start a new storyboard. First, select a screen layout from the available options, and then choose a Style Kit and select a Screen layout.

  • Next, choose a chart of your choice to begin configuring the storyboard.

  • The storyboard screen should like this:

Edit Style Kits and Color Overrides

Storyboards can be customized by applying color overrides and other style-related changes. These edits help tailor visual elements while maintaining brand consistency.

Step 1: Apply Overrides

  • Make changes to colors or other supported style properties at the storyboard level.

  • All changes are applied in real time and affect every scene by default.

  • Overrides temporarily modify the inherited style kit for the current storyboard.

Step 2: Revert Changes (Optional)

  • Reverting removes all overrides applied to the storyboard.

  • The storyboard returns to a fully inherited state with no custom modifications.

  • In this state, the system displays only the Create New option.

Step 3: Update the Source Style Kit

  • Once any override is applied, the Update Source option becomes available.

  • Selecting this option applies the current overrides to the parent style kit.

  • A confirmation dialog appears to ensure the update is intentional.

  • After confirmation, the parent style kit is updated and shared across applicable storyboards.

Style Kit Status and Editing Scope

Storyboards support flexible styling through clear style kit states and multiple levels of editing control.

Style Kit Status

  • Inherited Style Kit - The storyboard uses the style kit exactly as defined, with no modifications applied. No changes have been pushed to the parent style kit.

  • Active Style Kit - The parent style kit has been updated based on storyboard edits. The storyboard and all dependent assets reflect the updated styles.

Editing Scope

Edits can be applied at different levels depending on the level of control required:

  • Universal (Storyboard-Level) Edits - Applied from the storyboard settings without entering individual scenes. These changes ensure consistent styling across all scenes in the storyboard.

  • Scene-Specific Edits - Applied by editing a specific scene directly. These changes affect only the selected scene, allowing targeted customization without impacting others.
