In-App Custom Reporting: Metrics, Dimensions, and Use Cases
Updated
This document provides an overview of the Custom Reporting fields available for In-App Surveys, focusing on Intercept Performance metrics and key dimensions used to analyze survey effectiveness. These reporting fields help you understand how users progress through the survey intercept journey, evaluate the impact of different survey experiences, and uncover trends that can drive data-informed optimization.
Key Capabilities
Monitoring the complete intercept funnel from Triggered → Engaged → Abandoned → Completed.
Comparing survey performance across different distributions and creatives.
Identifying engagement and completion trends over time.
Analyzing survey behavior across different audience segments and contexts.
Filtering and slicing dashboard data using commonly used dimensions for deeper reporting insights.
Note: Use the rates for performance comparisons across cohorts, and counts for volume tracking.
Business Use Cases
Intercept funnel monitoring: Monitor triggered, engaged, abandoned, and completed actions to identify where drop-offs occur in the funnel.
Creative effectiveness analysis: Compare engagement/completion across creative types and creative names.
Distribution benchmarking: Compare distributions by channel/name to identify best performers.
Time-based insights: Analyse performance by time of day / day of week / month of year.
User-level segmentation (where available): Understand which users/profiles engage with intercepts.
Metrics and Dimensions
The metrics and dimensions are listed below:
Note: All rate metrics are percentages and typically use Intercept Triggered Count as the denominator.
Note: Key points to note
Counts vs Rates
Counts represent absolute volumes for the selected filters and time range.
Rates represent normalised performance and are better for comparisons across cohorts.
Denominator behaviour
Callout (Warning): When Intercept Triggered Count = 0, rate metrics may display as 0, blank, or N/A depending on reporting conventions.
Applicability
Intercept Page URL is most relevant for Website distributions (if enabled/exposed).
Intercept Engaged User is intended for user-level segmentation and may be subject to privacy/access controls.
