Third Pane Activation
Updated
Third Pane Activation controls which third pane is shown to which users. This allows administrators to tailor contextual information based on personas, roles, user groups, or individual users.
You can create multiple third panes for the same entity. Third Pane Visibility determines:
Which third pane opens
Who can see it
Under what context (persona, user, role, etc.)
This is managed through Grants during Third Pane activation.
Activating the Third Pane
Once you finish configuring a Third Pane, the Third Pane entry appears on the Third Pane Layouts page as shown in the following image.

Enable the toggle to activate the configured Third Pane. The Activate window appears.

In the Activate window, configure Grants.
Click Activate & Publish.
Activation is mandatory for the third pane to be visible on the end user side.
Grants - Controlling Who Sees Which Third Pane
Grants define access and priority for third panes. From the Grants panel, you can assign visibility based on:
Workspaces
Persona Apps
Roles
User Groups
Individual Users
Example Use Case
An organization has two personas for the same entity:
Relationship Manager (RM)
Regional Head (RH)
You may want:
RM to see operational details
RH to see additional privileged insights
This can be achieved by:
Creating separate third panes
Assigning each third pane to the appropriate Persona App via Grants
Grant Priority Order
When multiple grants apply, the system resolves which third pane to open using a fixed priority order:
Users → User Groups → Roles → Persona Apps → Workspaces
Example, if
A third pane is granted to a Persona App*
Another third pane is granted directly to a User
The User-level grant takes precedence, and that third pane will open.
Note: This priority order is predefined and cannot be configured.
Global Default
You can enable Global Default to make a third pane universally accessible.

When Global Default is ON:
All users
All persona apps
All roles and workspaces
This is useful when:
Only one third pane should exist
No role-based differentiation is required
How End Users Access the Third Pane
Once activated and granted, third panes can be accessed in multiple ways:
From Record Manager (Tabular View)
From the three dots available against any record on Record Manager page. Click View Details to open the Third Pane.
From Record Page Context
When a record is opened, the applicable Third Pane is determined by grants.
Admins do not need to hardcode which third pane opens. This is fully controlled through visibility rules.
