Add Music from Instagram’s Music Library to Reels
Updated
Overview
Adding music to your Instagram Reels is a great way to make your content more engaging and discoverable. Instagram provides tools to help you find the right track and customize it to complement your Reel.
In this article, we’ll walk you through how to add music from Instagram’s Music Library (Commercial Music Library, CML) to safely add licensed music to Reels in Sprinklr Quick Publish or Full Screen Publisher via the Media section, helping avoid copyright concerns.
Key capabilities include:
Configure track properties such as duration, start time, volume, country, and genre.
Clip or drag the selected song to choose the exact segment for your Reel.
Reel/audio behavior: If the Reel is longer than the selected song, the audio will play fully and stop—it will not loop automatically.
Play and pause controls allow you to preview the Reel with the selected audio.
Steps to Add Music to Instagram Reels
Step 1: Navigate to the Publish Screen
Click the New Tab icon. Under the Sprinklr Social tab, click Quick Publish within Engage.
Step 2: Add a Reel
In the Create Post window, select your Instagram account where you want to publish. You can also use Advanced Search to narrow your search using different filters.
Enter the content for the post in the Caption box.

You can add Custom Links, Content Placeholders, Links, Text Templates, or YouTube Videos by clicking the Insert icon in the bottom-left corner of the Caption box.
Note: Line breaks in the caption are not supported.
The bottom-right corner of the Caption box displays the remaining character count.
Click the Emoji Picker icon to browse or search for emojis and add your selection to the caption.
You can also include hashtags in the Caption box. Instagram provides hashtag recommendations for Reel posts based on the keywords entered in the caption.
Click Reel to add a Reel from the Media Uploader screen.
Step 3: Add Music to the Reel Through Instagram’s CML
Once you upload the Reel, you’ll see an option to select audio in the Song Selection box.
Choose Country, Time Period, Genre, and Audio.
Country: Explore trending songs from a specific country.
Note: Due to API limitations, searching for a song by name is not supported. Only songs trending in a specific country can be retrieved and selected.
Time Period: Select a time period to see when the music was popular.
Genre: Select your preferred genre or leave it open to view all available options.
Audio: Select the track you want to add to your Reel.
For example, you can view trending songs in the United States from the last week without applying a genre filter.
Step 4: Select and Preview the Song
After selecting your song and making the required adjustments, you can:
Play/Pause the song to preview how it fits with your Reel.
Choose the portion of the song you want to use by trimming or dragging the selected segment.
Adjust Reel Volume: Use the controls under Sound Volume to adjust the volume of the Reel.
These controls give you flexibility to customize how the selected music complements your Reel.
Step 5: Finalize Your Music Choice and Publish
Once you’ve selected the track and made the required adjustments, the music is ready to accompany your Reel.
Select a Campaign, make any additional edits, and proceed to publish.
Click Post in the bottom-right corner to publish immediately to the selected Instagram account.
To save the Reel as a draft, click Save as Draft.
To publish at a later date and time, click Schedule Post in the bottom-left corner of the Scheduler. Select the required date and time, then click Apply.
You can also enable Smart Scheduling in the Scheduler.
To continue creating another post, select the Publish Another option.
