Create a Facebook Page Owned Utility Template

Facebook Utility Templates let businesses send structured, non-promotional messages through Facebook Messenger. Common utility-message scenarios include order or account status updates and appointment or event reminders. 

In Sprinklr, you can create a Facebook Utility Template in Digital Asset Management (DAM), associate it with a Facebook Page, configure its content and buttons, and submit it to Meta for approval. The template can be used only with its associated Facebook Page and after Meta approves it.

Steps to Create a Utility Template

To create a Facebook Utility Template:

  1. Click the New Page (+) icon to open the Launchpad.

  1. Under Platform Modules > Integrate, click Digital Asset Management.

  1. In the upper-right corner, click Create Asset.

  1. Select Templates > Omni Chat Templates.

  1. In the Basic Details section, enter the asset Name and Description.

  1. Under Asset Specific:

  1. From the Channel drop-down, select Facebook.

  1. From the Template Type drop-down, select Utility Template.

  1. In the Template Details section, configure the following fields:

Description 

Template Name 

Name used to identify the template in DAM. 

Language Code 

Language in which the template content is written. 

Category 

Category assigned to the template. It is set to Utility

Facebook Page 

Facebook Page that owns the template. The template can be used only for the selected page. 

  1. In the Message Details section, configure the following fields:

Field 

Description 

Header Type 

Defines the format of the message header.  

Only Text is supported. 

Header Text 

Text displayed at the top of the message. 

Body Text 

Main message content sent to recipients.  

You can use variables, such as {{1}} and {{2}}, to populate dynamic values when the message is sent. 

Custom Fields for Variables 

Map each variable used in the message to a custom field. 

Sample Content 

Provide sample content for Meta approval. Do not use actual customer information. 

Quick Reply Buttons 

Configure quick reply buttons that recipients can select directly from the message.  

A maximum of 10 quick reply buttons can be added. 

Configure the Label and Postback Message for each quick reply button. 

 

Call-to-Action Buttons 

Configure buttons that redirect recipients to a URL.  

A maximum of 10 call-to-action buttons can be added. 

 

For a Call-to-Action button, configure the following fields: 

 

  • Action: Defines the action performed when the button is selected. Currently, only Open URL is supported. 

  • Label: Text displayed on the call-to-action button. 

  • URL Type: Select whether the URL is Static or Dynamic

  • URL: Destination URL opened when the button is selected. 

  • URL Variable: Displays the variable used to dynamically populate a portion of the URL. Available only when Dynamic is selected. 

  • Custom Field for URL Placeholder: Select the custom field that provides the value for the URL variable. Available only when Dynamic is selected. 

  • URL Sample Content: Provide a sample URL for Meta approval. Do not use actual customer information. 

 

  1. Add translations. See the Add Translations section.

  1. Configure the remaining sections as required: 

  • Asset Details

  • Asset Sharing

  • Properties

  • Asset Terms

  • Approvals

  1. Click Save.

Add Translations

You can add translated versions of a Facebook Utility Template for multiple languages.

  1. In the upper-left corner of the template editor, click Add Language.

  1. From the drop-down list, select the languages for which you want to add translations.

  1. A separate tab is created for each selected language.

  1. Open each language tab and review or modify the translated content, including: 

  1. Header Text

  1. Body Text

  1. Sample Content

  1. Button Labels

  1. Click Go Back to Editor to return to the default language and continue editing the template.

  1. Save the template after reviewing all translations.
