Project Plan Tab

Updated

The Plan tab in the Project Manager application provides a sheet-based workspace for planning marketing activities within a Project. You can capture and manage ideas, themes, budgets, channels, Campaigns, Sub-Campaigns, and other planning information in a single workspace. As plans move toward execution, you can associate rows with Campaigns and Sub-Campaigns, synchronize planning information with linked entities, and track performance metrics directly within the Plan tab.

Use the Plan tab to:

Before You Begin

Before using the Plan tab:

  1. Ensure the required PLANNING_SHEET_ENABLED Dynamic Property (DP) is enabled. The Plan tab is available only when the feature DP is enabled.

  2. Ensure that you have access to the required Project in the Project Manager application.

Note: To enable the Dynamic Property, contact your Success Manager or Sprinklr Admin. Alternatively, you can submit a request at tickets@sprinklr.com.

Create and Organize Your Marketing Plan

Use the Plan tab to build the plan hierarchy, capture initiatives, Campaigns, Sub-Campaigns, budgets, channels, and other planning details, and organize the displayed information for review.

You can:

Create the structure of your plan

Create rows for the marketing activities you want to plan and track within the Project, such as marketing initiatives, Campaigns, Sub-Campaigns, channels, or other planning activities.

To organize the plan:

  1. Add rows for the activities you want to include.

  2. Arrange related rows into parent-child hierarchies.

  3. Use parent rows for higher-level planning items.

  4. Use child rows for related Campaigns, Sub-Campaigns, channels, or other planning activities.

For example, you can use a parent row for a Campaign and arrange its related Sub-Campaigns or channels beneath it.

As planning evolves:

  • Reorder unlinked rows freely.

  • Move an unlinked child row to another parent.

  • Move linked rows only when the change preserves Campaign and Sub-Campaign relationships.

  • Deleting a parent row also deletes its child rows after confirmation.

Add Planning Information

Use columns to capture and track the information required for your marketing plan.

The Plan tab includes the following standard columns:

Column

Description

Title

Displays the row name.

Linked Entity

Displays the associated Campaign or Sub-Campaign.

Status

Displays the status of the row.

Start Date

Displays the planned start date.

End Date

Displays the planned end date.

Add additional columns when you need to capture information such as budgets, owners, timelines, classifications, calculations, or reporting metrics.

The Plan tab supports multiple column types for different planning needs:

Notes:

  • Use Formula columns to calculate values using information from other columns.

  • Use Rollup columns to aggregate values from child rows into a parent row. These column types can help summarize planning information and support planning calculations.

Track Planning Progress

Use the Status column to track the progress of planning activities.

You can update row statuses as planning progresses and use sorting, grouping, and filtering options to review the overall state of the plan.

Organize and Review the Plan

Use the controls available in the Plan tab toolbar to review planning information.

You can:

  • Use Search Records to find rows in the current view.

  • Use Filters to display rows that meet selected conditions.

  • Use Sort to arrange rows by column values.

  • Use Group By to group rows by a selected field.

  • Use Color to organize information visually.

  • Use View to create new views or switch between existing views.

These controls change how the Plan tab displays information without modifying the underlying planning data.

Associate Rows with Campaigns and Sub-Campaigns

After organizing your plan, associate rows with Campaigns or Sub-Campaigns to connect planning information with execution entities. The linked entity provides the destination for Field Sync and the aggregation point for Reporting columns.

The Linked Entity column is locked for inline editing to prevent accidental changes. Use the row actions menu to create or update a link.

Link an Entity

  1. Open the actions menu for the required row.

  2. Click Link Entity.

  3. Select an Entity Type: Campaign or Sub-Campaign.

  4. Select the entity to associate.

  5. Click Done.

The linked entity appears in the Linked Entity column. Click the linked entity to open its details pane.

When a parent row is already linked to a Campaign, the Sub-Campaign selection reflects the existing hierarchy.

Association Rules

When you link entities:

  • Link only one Campaign or Sub-Campaign to each row.

  • Associate a Campaign with only one Project at a time.

  • When you link a Sub-Campaign, the system also associates its parent Campaign with the current Project.

  • Link sibling Sub-Campaigns to different rows in the same Project when required.

  • Do not link the parent Campaign directly when its Sub-Campaigns already associate it with the Project.

Update or Remove a Link

To change the linked entity:

  1. Open the row actions menu.

  2. Click Update Entity.

  3. Select the required entity.

  4. Save the change.

To remove the link:

  1. Open the row actions menu.

  2. Click Delink Entity.

  3. Review the confirmation message.

  4. Confirm the action.

Delinking stops synchronization between the row and the entity. Both locations retain their last-synchronized values. If you delink a parent that has linked child rows, the action also removes the affected child associations after confirmation.

Synchronize Planning Data with Linked Entities

Use Manage Field Sync to synchronize supported Plan tab columns with standard or custom fields on linked Campaigns and Sub-Campaigns.

Note: You can configure Field Sync before linking a row. However, synchronization takes effect only after the row is linked to a Campaign or Sub-Campaign because the linked entity acts as the synchronization destination.

Configure Field Sync

  1. Click Manage Field Sync.

  2. Expand Campaign fields or Sub campaign fields.

  3. Click Add field mapping.

  4. Select a Planning sheet column.

  5. Select the corresponding Campaign Field or Sub-Campaign Field.

  6. Select the required Sync Direction.

  7. Use the toggle to activate the mapping.

  8. Repeat these steps to create other mappings.

  9. Click Start Syncing to start synchronization.

Field mappings apply at the Project level. You can create separate mappings for Campaign fields and Sub-Campaign fields.

Field Sync Configuration

UI element

Description

Planning sheet column

Selects the Plan tab column that participates in synchronization.

Campaign Field

Selects the Campaign field mapped to the Plan tab column.

Sub-Campaign Field

Selects the Sub-Campaign field mapped to the Plan tab column.

Sync Direction

Defines how values move between the Plan tab and the linked entity.

Toggle

Activates or deactivates an individual mapping.

Add field mapping

Adds another mapping to the Campaign or Sub-Campaign section.

You can configure multiple mappings for Campaign fields and Sub-Campaign fields within the same Project.

Select a Sync Direction

The available sync direction depends on the column type.

Sync direction

Description

Bidirectional

Synchronizes updates between the Plan tab and the linked Campaign or Sub-Campaign field. Changes made in either location appear in the other location.

Push to entity

Synchronizes values from the Plan tab to the linked entity. This option applies to Formula and Rollup columns.

Notes:

  • When you select Bidirectional, updates made in the Plan tab synchronize to the linked entity, and updates made to the linked field synchronize back to the Plan tab.

  • Formula and Rollup columns use Push to entity because they contain computed values.

Map Selection Values

Single Select and Multi Select columns require value mapping.

To map selection values:

  1. Select the Plan tab selection column.

  2. Select the compatible Campaign or Sub-Campaign field.

  3. Click Map Values.

  4. Map each Plan tab value to its corresponding entity-field value.

  5. Click Save to save the mapping.

Complete all required value mappings before starting synchronization. Bidirectional synchronization requires the Plan tab column and the custom field to contain the same number of options. Text fields do not require additional value mapping.

Field Sync Rules

  • Configure Campaign and Sub-Campaign mappings separately.

  • Configure multiple mappings when you need to synchronize multiple fields.

  • Only compatible field types can be synchronized.

  • Each destination field can be mapped only once.

  • Single Select and Multi Select fields require value mapping

Track Campaign and Sub-Campaign Performance

Use a Reporting column to display execution metrics for linked Campaigns or Sub-Campaigns directly in the Plan tab. Reporting columns aggregate data from linked Campaigns or Sub-Campaigns and display the values inline within the sheet. Reporting values are read-only.

Add a Reporting Column

  1. Add a column.

  2. Enter a Column Name.

  3. Select Reporting as the Field Type.

  4. Select a Data Source.

  5. Select a static or rolling Date Range.

  6. Select the required Metric.

  7. Select an Aggregation type.

  8. Click Add.

Reporting columns support these data sources:

  • Campaign

  • Sub-Campaign

  • Outbound

  • Social Analytics

  • Paid

  • Task, when its controlling DP is enabled

Reporting values:

  • Aggregate at the linked Campaign or Sub-Campaign level.

  • Display only when the row has a linked entity and data is available.

  • Refresh daily and when you open or refresh the Plan tab.

For Paid metrics such as Spend, ensure that the relevant Paid Initiatives are tagged to the correct Campaign or Sub-Campaign. The Reporting column aggregates the available Paid Initiative data at the linked entity level.

If a row has no linked entity or no reporting data, the reporting value remains blank or unavailable. Removing the linked entity stops future reporting updates for that row.

Review Collaboration and Activity History

Open a row to access its third pane.

The third pane includes:

  • Properties

  • Attachment

  • Collaborate

  • Activity

Use the Activity tab to review:

  • Row updates

  • Entity associations and removals

  • Field synchronization activity

  • Updates received from linked entities

When Field Sync is active, the Plan tab row and the linked entity both record the synchronized change.
