Migrate Microsoft Exchange Accounts from EWS API to Microsoft Graph API

Updated

Microsoft has announced that Exchange Web Services (EWS) for Exchange Online will be deprecated starting October 1, 2026. After this date, integrations that still rely on EWS APIs will stop working.

If your Microsoft Exchange Online account is currently integrated with Sprinklr through the EWS API, Sprinklr will no longer be able to:

  • Fetch incoming emails
  • Publish outgoing emails

To avoid disruption, you must migrate your Exchange Online mailbox integration from EWS API to Microsoft Graph API. Sprinklr now uses Microsoft Graph API as the supported method for fetching and sending emails for Microsoft Exchange accounts.

Note:

  • Existing customers using EWS API are expected to migrate to Microsoft Graph API and can work with their Success Manager to initiate this migration.

  • The migration does not cause downtime.

Required Microsoft Graph Permissions

When you migrate to the Microsoft Graph API, make sure the Exchange tenant grants the following permissions:

openid

email

offline_access

profile

Mail.Read

Mail.Read.Shared

Mail.ReadBasic

Mail.ReadWrite

Mail.ReadWrite.Shared

Mail.Send

Mail.Send.Shared

These permissions are required because Microsoft Graph uses a different authorization scope than the earlier EWS-based integration.

For more details on permission, refer to Microsoft Graph Permission Reference.

Admin Approval Requirement

Whenever you move a Microsoft Exchange account from EWS API to Microsoft Graph API, you will need to re-add the MS Exchange account in Sprinklr and admin approval is required for the Exchange tenant. The re-addition will not cause any downtime.

For more details, refer to Adding a Microsoft Exchange Email Account.

If your Microsoft Exchange Online account is still using EWS API, you must migrate it to Microsoft Graph API before October 1, 2026 to ensure uninterrupted email fetching and publishing in Sprinklr. Sprinklr now supports Microsoft Exchange integrations through Microsoft Graph API, and EWS-based customers should move to the new method.
