BMO and Sprinklr co-create the future of secure, scalable employee advocacy

As Sprinklr’s definition partner for employee advocacy, BMO built a seamless, compliant and scalable program that empowers employees to share content in just two clicks —setting a new standard for the global financial services industry.

Challenge

BMO has always been a brand that leads when it comes to trust, innovation and employee engagement. With a strong internal culture and a forward-thinking brand, BMO knew that empowering employees to amplify the company’s voice would be key to standing out in a competitive, highly regulated market.

While BMO had already laid a strong foundation for employee advocacy, the team saw an opportunity to elevate the experience. Their existing solution had served its purpose, but it didn’t offer the seamless, scalable and intuitive experience they wanted for employees. The company had invested in a robust SharePoint intranet — a trusted, homebase for employees — but without integration, the advocacy experience remained disconnected from employees’ daily workflows.

They also faced a complex challenge: ensuring full compliance with regulations in the financial services industry. Any solution would need to automatically exclude regulated employees and sales teams, while enabling the broader workforce to share confidently and securely.

What BMO envisioned wasn’t just an improved platform — it was a full transformation: turning employee advocacy from a siloed initiative into a secure, scalable, and intuitive movement woven into everyday work. It would take more than technology; it would require partnership.

As Sprinklr CEO Rory Read put it: “We saw in BMO not just a customer, but a true partner. They challenged us to think bigger, to build smarter and to redefine what’s possible for employee advocacy in a highly regulated industry.”

Solution

BMO set out to create something truly transformative: an employee advocacy experience that was seamless, secure and scalable — woven directly into the way their people already worked. To bring that vision to life, they partnered with Sprinklr in a definition partnership that reimagined what advocacy could look like in a highly regulated industry.

Together, they co-developed a first-of-its-kind integration between Sprinklr Advocacy and BMO’s SharePoint intranet. This allowed employees to discover and share content directly from their existing digital workplace — removing friction, increasing visibility, and making advocacy feel like a natural extension of the workday.

“This wasn’t just a technical solution,” explains Nick Nunes, BMO’s Managing Director and Head of Enterprise Social Media. It was a strategic collaboration that defined a new model for participation and impact — one that prioritized user experience, compliance, and scale from day one.”

Outcome

The results were immediate and game-changing. BMO reduced the employee journey from 11 steps to just two clicks with the launch of “BMO Share,” dramatically simplifying the process and driving a surge in participation. With compliance built into the heart of the program through Single Sign On and Active Directory integration, regulated employees and sales teams are now automatically redirected to other specialized advocacy programs — ensuring brand safety and full regulatory alignment.

This streamlined experience has unlocked:
  • Significant increases in adoption and engagement
  • A substantial 875% boost in earned media value
  • A scalable, secure model that’s now setting the industry standard

“BMO is the gold standard and best-in-class leader in financial services when it comes to employee advocacy,” says Sprinklr CEO Rory Read. “They didn’t just build a program—they built the blueprint.”
