The Challenge

Greene King is the UK’s leading pub company and brewer, operating more than 2,700 pubs, restaurants and hotels across England, Scotland and Wales. Its portfolio includes well‑known brands such as Hungry Horse, Pub & Social and Flaming Grill, each with its own established brand identity and social presence.

With such a large and distributed footprint, Greene King must support a significant volume of social content across its many brands and locations. While campaigns are often consistent at the brand level — for example, promoting national sporting events, seasonal moments or key hospitality occasions — each pub still needs social assets that include its individual name and local event details.

This created a substantial operational challenge. The team was repeatedly producing hundreds or even thousands of near‑identical social assets, differentiated only by small, location‑specific details. At this scale, maintaining efficiency and brand consistency became increasingly difficult. It stretched creative resources and slowed the delivery of content.

Greene King sought a solution that could streamline the creation of social posts and stories, reduce repetitive design work and ensure brand‑consistent content could be easily personalized by pub users.

The Solution

To streamline social content creation across its multi‑brand, multi‑location network, Greene King implemented Sprinklr Social’s dynamic template capability in combination with social publishing. This gave the team a flexible, repeatable workflow they can activate for any campaign or cultural moment throughout the year.

Dynamic templates built on‑demand for each campaign

Instead of producing individual assets for every pub, Greene King now uses Sprinklr to create a small set of brand‑specific master templates whenever a new campaign arises. Whether it’s the Cricket World Cup, St. Patrick’s Day, or Wimbledon, the central team simply creates two templates per brand — one for feed posts and one for stories — using Sprinklr’s dynamic template capability.

These templates lock down brand‑approved creative elements, while exposing only a few editable fields required by pub users.

Controlled personalization by pub users

Once a template is published to Sprinklr, it becomes available only to the pubs associated with that brand and location. Pub users can then quickly personalize their social posts by updating just the necessary details, like pub name, event date, and time, without altering any protected brand elements.

This ensures efficiency and consistency across hundreds of users while enabling accurate, local personalization.

Centralized campaign planning with channel‑specific variants

With Sprinklr, Greene King centrally manages the timing and structure of campaigns, ensuring all brand touchpoints remain aligned. The team creates channel‑specific versions of each template, such as story and feed formats, using Sprinklr’s dynamic template capability, and then manages distribution and publishing through Sprinklr Social Publishing & Engagement.

This “central planning to distributed activation” model allows Greene King to support major events at scale while maintaining brand control.

Continuous visibility and governance

Because all creation and publishing happens within Sprinklr, the central team can monitor:

  • Template usage (which pubs use which assets)
  • Adoption across brands and locations
  • Engagement performance of localized posts

This provides the governance and feedback needed to continually refine future campaigns and strengthen consistency across the Greene King estate.

The Outcome

By implementing Sprinklr Social’s Dynamic Templates and centralized publishing workflows, Greene King transformed its social content operations across more than 2,700 pubs, restaurants and hotels. The shift from manual, repetitive asset creation to a scalable template‑driven model delivered immediate and measurable impact.

  • Reduced workload: Greene King reduced its asset‑production burden from thousands of individual designs to fewer than 50 master templates per year, dramatically decreasing production time and creative effort while ensuring brand‑approved consistency across every campaign.
  • Increased local publishing: Pub‑level users gained the ability to quickly personalize posts, leading to higher publishing adoption among more than 400 distributed users.
  • Stronger governance and real-time visibility: Creating and publishing content entirely within Sprinklr strengthened oversight and governance. The central team can now track template usage, monitor performance across brands and locations, and continuously refine future campaigns based on real‑time insights.

The overall result is substantial cost savings, faster speed‑to‑market, and more consistent brand execution across one of the UK’s largest and most diverse pub networks.
