Reward Engine and Points Configuration: Best Practices
Updated
This guide outlines key best practices for setting up the Reward Engine and configuring points to boost engagement, maximise ROI, and build a sustainable rewards system.
Best Practices for Reward Engine Configuration
Set an Appropriate Value for 100 Points:
Use the "Suggested Value of 100 Points" feature to guide your configuration. This value is calculated as:
Earned Media Value (EMV) ÷ Total Points × 100.
If you do not have a predefined EMV value, use the default value of $10 for 100 points as a starting point for your reward system.
Define the Dollar Value per Token:
Assign a monetary value to each token based on your budget and ROI expectations.
If you are taking $5 as the value of 100 points, it is recommended to assign $1 as the value of 1 token for consistency and ease of calculation.
Reward High-Impact Activities:
Assign higher points to activities that significantly drive engagement (e.g., shares, native likes and comments and approved UGC).
Assign fewer points to low-impact activities (e.g., platforms, likes, logins) to maintain a balanced ROI.
Set Daily and Weekly Limits:
Use limits to control the maximum points you earn from platform-level activities, ensuring fairness and preventing token inflation.
Monitor and Adjust Regularly:
Use Reward Engine analytics to track your engagement and ROI trends. Refine your configuration over time to align with evolving goals.
Recommended Points Allocation
Platform-Level Gamification (Max 30 Points/Day)
Activity | Points Per Activity | Daily/Weekly Limit | Rationale |
X Native Live | 1 | 5 likes/day (5 points max) | Encourages lightweight engagement on X. |
LinkedIn Native Like | 1 | 5 likes/day (5 points max) | Promotes consistent interaction on LinkedIn. |
LinkedIn Native Comment | 2 | 5 comments/day (10 points max) | Fosters meaningful conversations. |
Share | 5 | 2 shares/day (10 points max) | Amplifies content reach and visibility. |
Post Copy Edited Before Sharing | 2 | 2 edits/day (4 points max, tied to shares) | Encourages you to personalize their shares for added impact. |
Upload Content | 1 | 1 uploads/day (1 points max) | Incentivizes you to contribute quality content. |
UGC Approved | 5 | 3 approvals/week (15 points max) | Rewards high-value, admin-approved user-generated content. |
Channel-Level Gamification (No Cap)
Activity | Points per Activity | Daliy/Weekly Limit | Rationale |
LinkedIn Likes (Channel) | 1 | No Limit | Promotes consistent engagement and visibility. |
X Likes (Channel) | 1 | No Limit | Drives frequent lightweight engagement on X. |
X Shares (Channel) | 5 | No Limit | High-impact action that significantly boosts content visibility. |
LinkedIn Comments (Channel) | 5 | No Limit | Encourages meaningful discussions on LinkedIn for professional engagement. |
How Points Translate to Tokens and Rewards
Users earn tokens by accumulating points based on the ratio: 1 Token = 20 Points.
Tokens are redeemed for rewards, with the reward’s actual cost determining the token requirement.
Example:
A user earns 20 points by engaging in platform and channel-level activities.
These 20 points are converted into 1 token.
Tips for Optimizing Points Configuration
Prioritize High-Impact Activities:
Focus on shares, comments and approved UGC submissions that align with your advocacy goals.
Avoid Over-Rewarding Low-Impact Actions:
Assign fewer points to likes and logins to prevent disproportionate reward distribution.
Encourage a Variety of Engagements:
Distribute points across multiple activities to promote balanced participation.
Refine Configuration Based on Analytics:
Regularly monitor engagement trends and adjust points allocation to match ROI expectations.
