Twilio Porting

Porting is the transfer of a phone number between two telephone service providers on behalf of an end-user. The process involves providing the right documentation to prove ownership of the number as well as coordination between the existing provider and the new provider with regard to the number's porting date.

 

Standard Porting Request- ETA (2 to 4 weeks) here Porting date provided by the carrier.

The steps of the porting process are as follows:

Step 1 - Submit documentation to Twilio.

Step 2 - Twilio submits the port request to the carriers based on the data and information you’ve provided.

Step 3 - Twilio follows up with the carriers and/or you if more information is required.

Step 4 - Twilio receives the date on which your number(s) will port and notify you via email.

Step 5 - Your phone number(s) will port and Twilio tests to ensure voice is working*.

 

Custom Porting Request

Request this through Twilio Account management, also the custom porting request requires an additional porting fee. The requester decides and provides the actual porting date. Submit the request 10 to 15 days in advance of the required porting date.

Documentation Needed

  • The authorized user or owner’s first and last name.

  • The corresponding service address. This is an actual physical address. PO Boxes are not valid addresses.

  • A Letter of Authorization (LOA) signed by the authorized user and/or owner of the number(s). Note that the information on your LOA matches the authorized user name and service address provided by your current carrier.

  • Obtain a Customer Service Record (CSR).

  • A scanned (or electronic) copy of the most recent phone bill, within the last 30 days, that includes the account, owner/authorized user name, and address information for all the numbers you’d like to port.
