AI+ Features in Advocacy: Configuration and Access Control

Updated

Overview

AI+ features in the Advocacy platform help your teams create, enhance, and manage content more efficiently. To give you greater flexibility and control, AI+ is now managed centrally through the Admin Console, allowing you to decide where AI+ features appear and who can access them.

This article explains:

  • Where to find and enable AI+ settings

  • How access is controlled through roles and permissions

  • What’s new compared to earlier AI+ implementations

  • What these changes mean for your organization

Where to Find and Enable AI+ Settings

AI+ settings are managed by Administrators in the Admin Console.

To enable and configure AI+:

  • Go to Admin ConsoleView SiteBuild Site

  • Open the Overview section

  • Locate the AI Features area

  • Enable and configure AI+ functionality from this section

Administrators can choose where AI+ features are available across the Advocacy platform, including:

  • On-site Publisher

  • External Publisher

  • Suggest Content window

  • Other supported Advocacy page sections

Once configuration is complete, save and publish your changes. AI+ features will then appear on the Advocacy site based on the settings you selected.

Role-Based Access and Permissions

AI+ availability is also governed by roles and permissions:

  • Only users with the appropriate AI+ permissions can see and use these features

  • Permissions are managed using existing Admin role configurations

  • If a user does not have AI+ permission, the feature will not appear for them—even if it is enabled on the site

This ensures AI+ tools are available only to the intended users.

User-Level Access Control (What’s New)

Previously, AI+ features were enabled globally, either on or off for an entire site or partner. All eligible users received access at the same time.

With the updated configuration model, you now have granular control over AI+ access:

  • AI+ features can be restricted using Community User Custom Fields

  • Administrators can select specific user groups based on these fields

  • Access can be tailored by:

    • Specific user segments

    • Specific page sections

    • Specific combinations of users and locations within the platform

This enables gradual rollouts, controlled testing with smaller groups, or limited access for specific teams or roles.

Page Section–Based Controls

In addition to user-level targeting, AI+ features can also be controlled by page section:

  • Different AI+ capabilities can be enabled in different areas of the Advocacy site

  • User filters and page section controls are managed from the same centralized setup

  • Administrators can review, update, and publish changes directly from the Admin Console

This unified approach simplifies administration while providing greater flexibility.

What’s Changed and What It Means for You

AI+ configuration now offers greater flexibility and control. Instead of enabling AI+ for an entire site at once, you can now turn it on by page section and user group using custom fields and permissions. This supports targeted, phased rollouts and more precise access control.

With this update, you can:

  • Control who can access AI+ features

  • Enable AI+ only where it adds value

  • Roll out AI+ gradually or test with select users

  • Maintain governance across teams
