WhatsApp Business WebView Support
Updated
WhatsApp has added support for WebView that allows users to open links shared in business messages directly within the WhatsApp app, without being redirected to an external browser like Chrome or Safari.
This feature aims to provide a seamless and secure browsing experience for users and to help businesses improve engagement by reducing drop-offs caused by app-switching.
Feature Availability
The WebView feature is being rolled out gradually and is expected to reach 100% coverage by November 15.
It applies to WhatsApp Business Accounts (WABAs) with a daily messaging limit of at least 1,000 business-initiated conversations per phone number.
Once enabled, links included in marketing, utility, and interactive templates will open within WhatsApp itself.
Default Behavior
Previously, when users clicked on a link in a WhatsApp message, it opened in an external browser (for example, Google Chrome).
With the new Webview feature:
Links will now open inside WhatsApp in a native browser view.
Users can still choose to open the link in their preferred external browser if they wish.
Configuration and Enablement
No configuration or enablement is required from the Sprinklr or business end.
The capability is automatically enabled by WhatsApp.
There is no configuration or integration setup needed within Sprinklr.
Businesses will see the feature reflected automatically in their WhatsApp Business Manager once rolled out.
Benefits
Enhanced customer experience: Users can view business links within WhatsApp.
Reduced drop-offs: Eliminates friction caused by switching between apps.
Faster engagement: Keeps the customer journey contained within a single, familiar environment.
